Charitable Gift Examples

Your charitable bequest is one of the most important types of gifts for building Reno Jazz Orchestra's future. Unless you direct otherwise, your bequest will be recorded as a gift to our annual fund where it will support our ongoing operating expenses.

There are three types of bequests for you to consider: Residual, Specific, and/or Contingent. A specific bequest is a certain dollar amount or percentage of your estate. Residual bequests are often made after making specific bequests to relatives, friends and charities. Whatever remains after specific bequests (the residue) can be given in percentages to charitable organizations and others. Contingent gifts only take effect under certain circumstances, such as when a first-named beneficiary does not survive to receive their gift.

When you place a specific or residual bequest in your will, trust, or other estate planning document, we will invite you to become a member of the Legacy Society. If you are considering a restricted gift, we encourage you to contact us in advance to ensure that your wishes are met.
