Dylan Coleman-Tunstall was born and raised in New England. He began playing jazz in high school by taking advantage of the many educational opportunities both locally and at the state level. He attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Here he was lucky enough to learn and play with peers and educators such as Melissa Aldana, John Lockwood, Bruno Raberg, and Bob Gullotti. Upon graduating, he spent several years freelancing primarily in Europe and the Greater Boston area. Prior to moving to Nevada, he apprenticed for two years with piano technician Gene Roe, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. He moved to Reno in 2016 to pursue a Master’s Degree at UNR. He currently teaches Music Theory and is an assistant piano technician at UNR. He also runs the Reno Jazz Orchestra jazz workshop, participates in the RJO mentorship program, is on the board of For the Love of Jazz, and takes freelance work in the Reno-Carson-Tahoe region.
