A Great Summer and onto a Great Fall
The Reno Jazz Orchestra’s summer season closed with a vibrant mix of unforgettable moments—from Matt Mauser’s high‑energy “Trekkin’ Tahoe: A Jazz/Rock Odyssey” that had audiences on their feet at both Hawkins Amphitheater and Sand Harbor, to the orchestra’s twenty‑second consecutive appearance opening Carson City’s Jazz & Beyond festival at the governor’s mansion. Although the August 23 George Benson tribute was canceled due to the Hawk Fire, the RJO returned the very next night with a sold‑out Sand Harbor performance, where guest artists Kyle Rea and Colin Cook led a joyful, crowd‑embracing celebration of Benson’s iconic sound.
